These are the beautiful words of
Mrs Sudha Murthy , author of the book How I Taught My Grandmother To Read and Other Stories.
Hello friends... this is my very first blog!!
Here I'm sharing about one of my favourite books, HOW I TAUGHT MY GRANDMOTHER TO READ AND OTHER STORIES, an amazing, inspiring and valuable collection of stories.

The stories play a major role in the upbringing of children as well as for adults to acknowledge themselves. Here I would like to share few storylines of this book. Which are able to give a glimpse of the book. Let's start our journey through the stories...
What would be your reaction , if your grandmother asks you to teach her the alphabet ?! The story 'How I taught my grandmother to read? ' revolves around the answer itself.. Grandma, being a sixty two year old woman with her unstoppable spirit to learn, voices, 'Learning has no age limit'.
Are you aware of few students of schooltime, who used to be irregular to classes and scolded by teachers as "indisciplined " ?? Have you ever been curious about their future ?! ( No doubt on life's unexpected turns, the choices made in defferent stages of life affects our being.) Here author introduces such a boy, one of her student's life... and adds "excellence does not come by accident but by practice" , under the headline 'Hassan's attendence problem'.
To reach our WANTS , we often forget our NEEDS.. but as previously said, choices make a difference. Mrs. Sudha Murthy's sixteen year young daughter questions her mother's DUTY towards the society. What would be a person's need other than happyness and satisfaction ?! Sharing what we have with one who needs it the most is very satisfying. This immortal moral sparks through the story, 'Amma what is your duty?'
The story named 'Doing what you like is freedom', takes us to Bengaluru to Belagam train journey .. exciting to get such ride in this lockdown?? Coming to the story.. during this journey author gets to talk with two young college students.. surprisingly the journey encounters a bonsai and a nourishing tree .
Now what is a bonsai? A tree which made smaller yet productive by giving little space and as required water and soil.. stopping its NATURAL growth. What if the same plant was brought up in the forest with enough area to grow? So the story talks about independent thinking and right kind of freedom.
I would like to spin a question: * we often stumble upon terms like iquality , financial independence and so on. Do they really matter until we adapt independent thinking? Or will be able to achieve with out such independent aproch to our lives?
Now the last one , Remember if there were any arguments between girls and boys regarding abilities?? Yes!! in this story we witness a heated argument between author's students. Are you still not able to find out who is GREAT between girls and boys?? Kindly read the story 'The secret'.
Here we finish, this is just a small attempt to give a bird view though it's bit longer..
To get more jewels and make your life morally luxurious please try to get the book. And experience the depth of recreated story of author's life.
If you have any other insights regarding the book or anything for me kindly share. *Don't forget to answer the question .
Thank you for reading...(θ‿θ)
